If you haven’t seen our article on HOW TO USE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER please read that first! Now their are other tips that you can use that go beyond the P.A.S.S four step approach. Here are some additional tips to keep you at the top of your abilities when it comes to using your Fire Extinguisher:
- Tip#1: Remember you have limited supply so be diligent on the application of extinguishing agent
- Tip#2: Hold the fire extinguisher upright when attempting to extinguish the fire
- Tip #3: Pull the pin
- Tip#4: Guide and aim the nozzle at the base of the fire to efficiently extinguish the flames
- Tip#5: Begin squeezing the handle while you are making your approach to the fire
- Tip#6: Aim at the base of the fire
- Tip#7: Sweep from side to side
- Tip#8: Know that their can be a chance the fire re-ignites
- Tip#9: Once done make sure to remove the remaining powder to ensure you release all pressure from the unit
- Tip#10: Never grab a CO2 extinguisher at the nozzle or horn as this can cause injury
